    Mr. Zerox, Horikawa, Japan, 1965:
Vintage Mr. Zerox Robot made by Horikawa, Japan, circa 1965.  A classic of the Tin Toy Era.  This is the early and rare gold-footed version.  Takes two C batteries, which were put in after dusting out the very clean battery compartment.  Flipped the switch on the back to ON and robot immediately made a loud constant grinding sound and started walking forward slowly, swinging from side to side.  The arms started moving up and down, but the right one has difficulty when the robot is walking on a surface.  The hidden machine guns in the chest lit up and started flashing, showing through the green molded plastic chest piece, which is on a hinged door that can be pulled down to reveal the blazing guns.  Very cool!  With those w
ild 'electric' eyes and a j
aunty red and yellow cap, this robot has lots of character.  The paint has patina and scratches, with some crazing and oxidation, mostly on the mouth and ears.  Litho chest and face art is very complete and in nice condition.  Robot walks and swings arms best when held aloft; all functions work, but a bit stiffly.  Sometimes needs a push to get the legs walking on a surface.  With a bit of oil and dusting off, we would guess this vintage robot will be back in shape in no time.  Buyer pays shipping and insurance is required.  Good luck bidders!  Please check our other auctions for more vintage robots and other cool collectibles.
